Paper Mache Igloo

We have been studying Inuit people and decided that we would love to have the experience of building a paper mache igloo. It was a tough job and in the end we paper mached all of the chicken wire. Ella

This year we have been learning about the topic cold, we first used paper mache to make gremlins then Miss McLaughlan asked us where to next. We all siad how about making a paper mache igloo. We thought of how mto get the shape. Grant suggested to use chicken wire to bend it into the arch shape. We had to put card board in it to keep it up and we tied string to keep it in the shape. The igloo is a great experience. We have done a great job on it too. We got the idea of doing a paper mache igloo because we were learning about Inuit this term and we thought it would be cool if we did paper mache. We have a long way with paper mache. It was fun having the experience to be building a paper mache igloo. We had to put a cardboard box in it to hold the inside up! We tried to weave to the newspaper but that didn't work, we also tied string together so the opening would stay in shape. We tried making real igloos out of sugar cubes. Phillpa

This term we have been learning about Inuit people and we wanted to make an igloo out of paper mache. Hayden.
